They must pass medical and criminal background checks

The Canadian government conducts criminal and medical background checks before allowing immigrants to enter the country. The screening process is conducted by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS). The CSIS obtains applicant information from various sources, including social media accounts. It also collects information on applicants’ travel history and address history. It then compares the information to a wide database sourced from the United States, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

The processing time for TR to PR applications varies. It is estimated that most applications will be completed by 2021. Applicants should expect to receive a file number and date of application from IRCC within three months of submission. Unfortunately, these emails can often go to the SPAM folder, so applicants should check their junk mail frequently. If an applicant is applying through the Express Entry system, the processing time for their application will be significantly longer.
